About The Author

Lorena Castillo Zamora

Lorena Castillo-Zamora was born in Lima, Peru, and has spent more than twenty years working as a physiotherapist. While she has cared for people of all ages, her heart found its true home in geriatrics. Through her work, she has met many older adults from different countries, cultures, and family stories—each one leaving a gentle imprint on her life.

Lorena believes deeply in dignity, health, respect, love, and the strength of family bonds. She has witnessed how illness can change memory and movement, but never the need to feel valued and connected. These experiences inspire her to write stories that help children better understand aging and disease with compassion instead of fear.

At home, Lorena is a proud mother of three beautiful children Christina, Orlando and Gabriela—who continually remind her of the importance of curiosity, honesty, and kindness—and she shares her life with her loving husband, Fredd. Together, they cherish laughter, togetherness, and the simple rituals that hold a family close.

Through her stories, Lorena hopes to gently bridge the space between generations, reminding readers that even when memories fade, love remains.

About The Book

Rosa & Antonio
The Button That Never Fell Off
Narrated through the gentle eyes of a physiotherapist who visits Carmella and Antonio every Wednesday, this story welcomes young readers into a warm Italian-Australian home — lace curtains, geraniums, fresh coffee, and the lingering scent of baking. It is a story about devotion, resilience, and the invisible threads that hold families together across generations.

The Story

Carmella was once a gifted seamstress who emigrated from Italy to Australia, fell in love with Antonio, and designed her own pearl-buttoned wedding dress. Together they built a life rich with children, grandchildren, music, and abundant affection.
When subtle memory lapses begin — misplaced objects, lost words, a heartbreaking moment when Carmella asks Antonio if he has seen her husband — a diagnosis of dementia changes everything. Antonio becomes her devoted caregiver, and weekly physiotherapy sessions become a quiet anchor of dignity and routine.
